Burned Out

Ecclesiastes 1:8 All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. (NIV)

I wasn’t quite there but I was close. My godly grandmother had warned me about having too many irons in the fire. I just wasn’t listening.

Something Old Something New

(excerpt from Morning Meditations by Martin Wiles)

II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (NIV)

“I can’t believe someone would give me something used for Christmas!”

Jealousy’s Burn

Proverbs 27:4
(excerpt from Morning Meditations by Martin Wiles)

Proverbs 27:4 Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy? (NIV)

Focused Living

Proverbs 25:27
(excerpt from Morning Meditations by Martin Wiles)
Proverbs 25:27 Just as it is not good to eat too much honey, it is not good for people to think about all the honors they deserve. (NLT)
I squinted my eyes but still couldn’t clearly see the bird perched on our feeder. So I reached for the binoculars.

Moonstruck

Moonstruck
Proverbs 25:16
(excerpt from Morning Meditations by Martin Wiles)
Proverbs 25:16 Do you like honey? Don’t eat too much of it, or it will make you sick. (NLT)
Moonstruck is one of those oldie but goodie terms. If you’re under forty, you may not even know what it means. I’ve heard it but never used it. According to one dictionary, it means an inability to think or act normally because one is so much in love.
