The Love Debt

There he was again. I saw him moving up quickly in my rearview mirror. A tail rider.

People who ride my bumper set me on edge. I know the law of stopping and speed. One car length for every ten miles per hour I’m traveling, but some people don’t honor it.

First Things First

“Don’t put the cart before the horse.” It’s true. Carts don’t pull horses.

The saying doesn’t concern carriage rides but priorities. I’ve not always followed the advice. I think I know best for me so I tend to ignore advice conflicting with my wishes.

Rekindled Love

I had all the symptoms: sweaty palms, nervous stomach, and rapid heartbeat. But I wasn’t sick, just in love-or so I thought.

Puppy love, kitten love, a crush. The warm feeling children or adolescents have for a person of the opposite sex. So named because it resembles love for warm, cuddly puppies. But puppy love doesn’t survive unless it matures into real love which sticks around regardless.

Grace Channeling

I wish I was the kind of grace channeller he was. Like most people, I’d rather get it than give it. It’s easier.

He had big dreams and didn’t mind sharing them with his family. Dreams of ruling over them. His father pondered the dreams but his brothers hated him and disposed of him at their earliest convenience.

No Fear

They ambled slowly across the defunct course, munching on turf previously hosted by cadies and golfers.

Elk are native to the area, so their presence wasn’t a surprise. But seeing them in the middle of Estes Park-a town near the vastly popular Rocky Mountain National Park, seemed odd.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Not sure this is correct by blogging this.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could  remove mountains and have not charity, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, it profiteth me nothing.

Outward Appearances

Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. (NIV)

“Beauty is only skin deep.” We’ve heard it, but who actually believes it?

Beautiful is normally an adjective applied to women, but since I’m a man I’ll choose a more appropriate adjective: handsome. I’ve never considered myself handsome-nor should I, but most boys growing up want to be noticed by girls. While my inside looked acceptable, I never thought my outside did.

Speak Up

Proverbs 31:9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. (NIV)

His name is James Kennedy but everyone knows him as “Radio,” a name he received because he carried one around.
