Your Blog on Christian.org

Some Q&A on blogs on Christian.org...

How do I start my blog and create my first blog post?

Once you have joined a group, go to the group's page and you will see a link "Create Blog entry" under Actions on the right side.

Why do I have to post into a group?

The Christian.org community revolves around Groups, and your blog posts will be more likely to be read by others who are interested in that topic.  If you find yourself wanting to blog or write about a particular topic, first look for a group to join that is already discussing that topic.  If you search the groups and don't find any that are appropriate for your topic, then start a group!

Should I create a Blog post or a Discussion?

Create a Discussion if it is a question or something you want to discuss in that particular group.  Discussion posts are a starting point for a threaded discussion in a group.  But if you have something on your mind or that you would like to share with the group, a Blog post is probably more appropriate.  Blog posts also show up on your Profile, and other Christian.org members can subscribe to your blog.

Where does my blog post show up?

Your blog post can show up in several places...

1. On your own Profile

2. In the groups you post it to.  You can post each blog post into up to 3 groups.  Please do not abuse this - only post into groups that are relevant to your topic, and keep our Terms of Service in mind - including limitations on business and self-promotion.

3. In other Christian.org member's Dashboards and My Content pages, when they subscribe to your blog OR join the group.

4. Some Blog posts are promoted by Christian.org Content Managers to the "Featured Blog Posts" section of the site.

I already have a blog elsewhere...why should I blog on Christian.org?

Many people start their own blog website and blog for awhile, but eventually quit because they never really have an audience.  There are millions of websites out there, and it takes a lot of effort to promote a blog and find an audience.  Plus people have to remember to come back to your blog.

On Christian.org, if you want to blog about a topic of interest to you, you can find one or more groups (or start a group) and find an audience.  If people connect with what you are saying, they can subscribe to your blog and see your posts in their Dashboard.

Also we have many features built-in, like integration with Facebook and Twitter, ability to create groups and connect with an audience, and spam filtering.  That means less time doing administration on your blog, and more time engaging with your community!

Bottom line - joing groups and blogging on Christian.org gives your Blog posts greater visibility and helps you reach a larger audience on-line!
